In its completion, the two-storey building contains a cellblock, a Crime Scene Investigation unit and laboratory, gym and change rooms, mail room, amenities, interview and meeting rooms.

The project required close management and strictly regimented programming to ensure that specialist equipment and service coordination would not hinder the scheduled completion dates.

As an example, a pivotal part of a police station – the cells – had to be ordered from the US thus were noted by our team as a long lead time item. They were ordered very early in the piece and then regularly tracked to ensure their correct delivery.

Being a regional location (over two hours from Adelaide), it was important our team coordinated subcontractors closely so there was continual workflow and enough work to make the travel worthwhile.

A first in Australia, the cells are automated with a swipe card. The interview room has direct connectivity to the courts in Adelaide so that judges can have preliminary hearings without the accused having to be transported. Cell CCTV cameras are able to be viewed in the station control room but have also been connected to the CBD police station for extra security.

The facility was completed ahead of schedule with a number of unique and interesting technologies, which streamline operational activities and improve service delivery for the client.
