BADGE were appointed as the Principal Contractor from this regional project’s inception. The brief included the design and documentation of the facility according to the client’s brief and incorporating relevant Australian and industry standards.

Due to the nature of the project and client requirements, it was decided to ‘fast-track’ the design phase to allow for early stages of construction to begin. By staging the works in this manner, it allowed us to design and document the project while in construction— therefore saving time and money plus maintaining flexibility for any design changes.

The abattoir facility included elements such as storage, sorting, bone out products, offices, toilets, switch room, engine room, conveyors and gantries. The project contained two 50m long service chilled gantries that connected the three facility buildings together. Plate freezers were also used as opposed to convention freezing coils.

Engaging BADGE early in a design and construct capacity, meant that the client was provided with only one point of contact from the first day until project handover. This was the method chosen to ensure that the client could focus on their own tasks and not that of the building.
