This outdoor upgrade on the northern side of the Adelaide Festival Centre was integral to the Riverbank precinct’s major transformation into a world-class destination.
Providing an interface between Elder Park, the Torrens River and the Festival Theatre’s iconic architecture, the works included:
Reconfiguration of the walkway along the northern face of the Festival Theatre
A new landscaped external amphitheatre with integrated bleacher seating and DDA access to Elder Park
An upgraded northern entry to the Festival Theatre
Installation and cladding of new cooling towers
An interactive arts playground and Walk of Fame
Replacement of the roof shell waterproof membrane on Adelaide Festival Theatre
Given the Riverbank’s popular central Adelaide location and the heavy use of its facilities by an array of organisations, it was important for us to drive collaboration with all stakeholders throughout the project – such as the Adelaide City Council and AFL clubs based at the neighbouring Adelaide Oval. In particular, this enabled us to coordinate major works at the end of 2017 without disrupting public events over the busy Christmas and New Year period.
