The design and construction of the Preston & Barbieri “Flying Swinger 64” at Dreamworld’s main entrance brought together unique architectural, operational, and accessibility considerations. The ride’s aesthetic was carefully crafted to complement the 19th-century Second Empire French style of the Main Street, ensuring it blended seamlessly with the surrounding architecture. This approach maintained the cohesive, immersive experience that Dreamworld is known for, enhancing the visual appeal of the park’s entrance.
A key component of the project was the relocation of the iconic Dreamworld Globe and water feature. This adjustment was made to improve accessibility, ensuring the area is fully inclusive and welcoming to guests with disabilities.
Dreamworld remained operational throughout construction. Major activities, such as demolition, crane lifts, concrete pours, and material movements, were carefully scheduled outside of operating hours to minimize disruption to visitors.
