Caloundra Hospital was re-purposed as a community health and palliative care facility following the opening of the new nearby Sunshine Coast University Hospital.

Works included demolishing one building and four demountables, refurbishing seven existing buildings and constructing a new link built between two main buildings.

The hospital was functional throughout the works so great care was taken to plan and stage accordingly to minimise disruption and noise for patients and staff.

The health service now features a bespoke Palliative Care Unit, plus a Minor Injuries Clinic, Child Development and Health Clinic, Respite Unit and Outpatient facility. The Palliative Care Unit provides homely rooms with access to nature through a major central courtyard.

This project won the Health Facilities up to $20 million at the 2019 MBA Sunshine Coast Housing & Construction Awards.
