Tell us about what inspired you to join the construction industry.

I’ve always had a passion for working with my hands and love finishing early and heading down for a surf. Also, visiting my uncle who was a builder down south, seeing & hearing about everything he has constructed. I’m also inspired to think that a lot of constructions/buildings are built by people still – amazing to think that 40-storey buildings are constructed by people’s hands.

What has been your favourite project that you’ve worked on and why?

My most memorable project would be the JHC Oakey project which was a $15 mil project. This was my first taste as a Site Manager in my own rights. Having the opportunity to deliver something of this stature back to the local community and the ADF was a privilege. The project had its challenges and being away from home added to the pressures of delivering the project. The project also had some hidden bonuses for the team like the flight and firing range simulator.

However, the current project I am looking after is a $10 mil multi-purpose sports hall for my old high school and I think this one might be my most enjoyable. Nice to give something back to a school that was extremely patient with me, to say the least.

Tell us a story of how your work positively impacted the community.

Knowing that what we are delivering project-wise is helping shape the future for Australia, whether this be Aged Care, Education, Food & Beverage, Defence or Rural Projects.

BADGE Sunny Coast also subbies out to a lot of smaller mum-and-dad companies, knowing that our employment is stimulating the local market and staying local as well is something I am proud to be a part of as well.
