Following the first design meeting in March 2010, the overall project budget had increased to over $60m due to a major re-engineering of the entire plant for a future increase in processing output. During this stage, the project team worked seven days a week and mobilised afternoon and night shifts for months, averaging a workforce of 300 from August to November 2010. In this period, the Mornington Peninsula endured its wettest year on record with 260 hours of inclement weather.

The operational plant was handed over 3 months ahead of schedule, with full production commencing on 15th November 2010. The ability for the team to manage the direct subcontractors and client preferred contractors was fundamental to the successful delivery of this project. In assessing the rebuild, BADGE worked with the client, professional consultants, subcontractors, manufacturers and local council to determine the most efficient and quickest way to provide Inghams with a plant at full production capacity. While final works were still being completed, the plant was able to commence full production in November 2010, less than 12 months after it ceased due to the fire.

Awards

The Australian Institute of Building (VIC Chapter) awarded the project team a Professional Excellence Award for a Commercial Construction $50 million to $100 million in 2012.
