Global cosmetics manufacturer Jurlique International required a new purpose-built production facility in the brand’s birthplace of Mt Barker in the Adelaide Hills.

  • Sector Commercial Office & Accommodation
  • Client Jurlique International Pty Ltd
  • Location Mt Barker SA
  • Value $13M
  • Contract Managing Contractor

Interestingly, the site chosen for the new facility was where BADGE had built a fish processing factory nearly 30 years prior. Demolition of the defunct factory allowed the construction of a new corporate office with attached warehousing and production facilities.

Our team was appointed as the Managing Contractor and engaged early in the design process. This enabled our construction experts to provide building consultancy advice and valuable input as members of the project collective from initialisation.

With this project, our involvement in shaping the layout of the production facilities set us up for smooth progress through the construction phase. We worked with the client to fully understand their process from end-to-end, and offer design solutions for cost and operational efficiencies – while ensuring that the specialist equipment and required services for production were seamlessly integrated. Working with a good project foundation was especially important given the extreme wet weather conditions our team faced during construction.

The end product is an elegant, environmentally-connected building to complement the Jurlique brand.

Awards

This project was Highly Commended at the 2018 AIB SA Professional Excellence in Building Awards in the Commercial Construction $5m to $25m category.
