Project works were delivered over two stages. The first stage being the construction of two new twostorey learning buildings – with ten general learning areas (GLAs) each, a new administration and staffand student services building, and a multi-purpose student hub. The second stage included further GLAs, an extended walkway and specialised play equipment.

Under an accelerated Design & Construct contract, the school was delivered in a 10-month timeframe(with over 360 LTI-free days and 1000 site inductions), which is a record milestone for a Queensland government school of this size. The school was designed in six weeks, and multiple work fronts were programmed to enable efficient construction. Handover in November allowed school staff three months of preparation for the start of the 2020 school year.

The project involved a high level of client and community engagement. The team generated unique ways to connect with the school community including a ‘timeline’ pinboard to visibly show project progress along with a time capsule for the school to fill and be buried. Extensive consultation was key to understanding the needs of the children and their educators and accommodating requests into the design and construction process.
