A dated recreation centre was demolished and replaced with a new facility to support the regional Riverland area and increase a sense of local community.

The completed project, in the town of Loxton, three hours from Adelaide, consists of a high-quality sporting and leisure facility with two indoor courts, change rooms, gym, meeting rooms, café, function area and outdoor sports courts.

We approached this project as we do with those that have a significant regional focus and major community interest. Our team engaged closely with the local subcontractor market to acquire pricing in the regional area, rather than those in metropolitan Adelaide.

Working with a Riverland organisation to source local labour and candidates for other project roles allowed us to increase efficiency in the completion of works, reduce costs (by avoiding relocating people from Adelaide), as well as increase local industry participation.

Close coordination of the site works and collaboration with the wider project team meant components such as landscaping and car parking could be re-programmed during construction. These changes in programme meant the project was delivered to the client four weeks earlier than the original contract completion date.
