BADGE were appointed as Principal Contractor from the inception of this 23,991m² fast track design project. The brief included the design and documentation of this further processing facility according to the client’s brief and incorporating relevant Australian and industry standards.

A relatively tight timeframe of 18 months was set for the documentation and construction of the new build, associated amenities, offices, plant rooms, Dissolved Air Filtration plant, and 39,000m² of hardstand. To accommodate the critical 14 month processing equipment installation timeframe, the building was constructed from the centre to the outside in stages complete with services mezzanine, plant platforms and roof, at the same time leaving access for continuing equipment deliveries. This required exceptional coordination with all trades and many programming meetings to maintain the targeted end date. Floor plan alterations, mezzanine changes and $7m in variations added further design, coordination, programming and administration duties to an already demanding workload.

Inghams conducted trial product runs on the 17th September 2007, the exact date given to the client some two months prior to construction commencing.

This project was awarded the Australian Institute of Building SA Chapter, Professional Excellence Award in Commercial Construction $50million – $100 million followed by a High Commendation for the National Awards of the Australian Institute of Building.
