The new $22 million Emergency Department and Endoscopy Unit at the QEII Jubilee Hospital involved construction of new facilities and the refurbishment of the existing operational hospital including bridge link. The Endoscopy Unit is the most advanced suite in Australia, with installation of equipment from Germany.

The upgrade of the Emergency Department included a complete demolition of the existing building with a new state-of-art facility in a new building. The Department includes multiple patient resuscitation and treatment areas as well as the ability to accommodate paediatric patients. A Short Stay unit has been provided within the new department.
The Endoscopy Unit is a self-contained unit comprising of two endoscopy procedure theatres, pre-procedure and post-operative recovery areas, outpatient consult rooms, reception and admissions areas and procedure support areas.
The development includes a new Palliative Care unit, which was constructed within the existing hospital ward area. The new facility is designed to have a direct functional integration to the hospital to provide easy access to associated support areas of the hospital.
