Rainbow Beach Surf Life Saving Club

The Rainbow Beach Surf Life Saving Club provides a community of friends with common interests and goals a place to develop new skills, patrol the beach, and compete in surf sports. To support this community, the club has a bistro for locals to enjoy and hosts events such as weddings.  This small upgrade to the existing facilities consisted of the demolition and removal of asbestos, and construction of a new café kiosk, bar and gaming room. Although the project was a construct-only contract we took on a degree of design management to assist with progressing the job. We were able to provide buildability and design advice to achieve a favourable outcome for all stakeholders. The project was located in a remote area – there are no subcontractors/suppliers in Rainbow Beach. All trades and materials had to be supplied from Brisbane or the Sunshine Coast and thus they were subject to 1.5-2 hours minimum travel each way. With careful planning and management, we were able to hit all the short-range program dates which meant when the sub-consultants turned up the work front was ready. There were no wasted trips to Rainbow Beach!
