Complete overhaul of 132 patient rooms (the top three floors of the North Wing), the Ivy Suite cancer treatment centre and the demolition, rebuild and upgrade of the existing pharmacy to Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) standards – a laboratory grade fit-out which featured a state-of-the-art Environmental Monitoring System.

The successful delivery of this project relied on our team’s exceptional management of safety, noise and vibration, hygiene and programme. Key to safety was the segregation of construction activities. Alternative access through the external façade was installed to ensure there was no physical interaction between the hospital and construction workers, eliminating any personal injury risk.

In order to ensure the highest standards of infection control, our team performed audits on a daily basis, in and around the work site. A high quality hoarding was erected around each stage and a negative air pressure zone was introduced in order to minimise transfer of dust into the adjoining occupied ward areas. As a final precaution, our team took the initiative to install real-time dust monitoring just outside each hoarding line. This sophisticated system sent real-time SMS alerts when dust levels exceeded a prescribed level.
