The Wulanda Community Centre facility is hailed as being transformative for the Mount Gambier community. The project team relocated to Mount Gambier (about a 5 hours drive from Adelaide), to provide them with a deeper connection to the importance of community projects in regional locations and assist the client to deliver to the people of the region. Interestingly, the project became a first for Australia, BADGE and German manufacturer HESS Timber Limitless, as it implemented the longest beams to ever enter Australia. HESS Timber Limitless, the company that produced the 41.2m long timber told us that it was the largest single piece of glulam they have ever produced – their glulam press has a maximum length of 41.5m. The much-anticipated facility was open to the public on the 16th of December, Mount Gambier’s Mayor Lynette Martin stated “Wulanda is incredible. Words do not do justice to the scale, quality, features and craftsmanship of Wulanda.”
Congratulations to all who were involved in bringing this project to completion, it’s a truly impressive feat.
